International Cruise Ship Terminal in Albay, Philippines

According to DPWH-Bicol Regional Director Virgilio Eduarte, “We are just waiting for the submission of some documents by the Sunwest Construction Development Corporation and then the DPWH will issue a notice to proceed (NTP) to start the construction of the project.

The terminal will be catering to international passengers by presenting a full view of the majestic Mayon Volcano as the ships dock at the strategic location in Albay Gulf.

It was previously reported several years ago that the funding of this project will be at a billion dollar facility under a public-private partnership (PPP). And the soon to be international terminal in Albay will be built along the Legazpi City Boulevard by the side of the Sawangan Park.

Additionally, Mayor Noel E. Rosal confirmed that the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority or known as TIEZA has approved the project, and made it possible for everyone not only to see the majestic Bicol Region, but will also be able to provide local employment. Moreover, Rosal have acknowledged that Legazpi City will be the second city – after Tagbiliran, Bohol – to have an international cruise ship terminal.
